The Youth Wing of UNA

IN 2004 by far the youngest member of Twickenham & Richmond UNA, Sam Trevelyan, aged just 13, set up a Branch of UNYSA within the Borough. UNYSA-UK is the youth wing of UNA-UK helping to build a greater role for youth in global governance.

Sam was originally mainly interested in mobilising students in his own college, Hampton Community College, to join UNA, but now there are four schools in the area who all have members in this new Branch of UNYSA. These schools vary greatly, ranging from an independent secondary school to a special needs school.

Already the branch has held meetings with talks from distinguished speakers about Fairtrade, The Trade Justice Movement, Human Rights and Slavery. Further issues and concerns related to the UN are future goals including sustainable development, conflict prevention, education and building a culture of peace.

Contact the branch for further details.
